The Norland Scarecrow Trail

This years theme for 2012 is Celebrations in 2012
There are usually about 80 scarecrows and this year every junior school in Calderdale has been invited to add to the scarecrow count.
As it is the Queens jubilee year and the Olympics are being held in Britain, therefore the theme will be Celebrations in 2012.

The Event
Centred on the playing fields, the event has new improved trail sheets, scarecrow goodies and food and drink for sale, plus lots more including appearances by "Friendly" and "Hebden Junior" Brass Bands.

Raffle ticket draw was held on 4th October 2011 (as stated on tickets) at Norland Working Mens Club, all winners have been notified. Again the trail sheets competition winner and the children's picture competition winners have now all been informed.

The following charities have benefited from funds raised in 2011:-
Yorkshire Air Aumbulance
Overgate
Forget-me-not Trust
Hope
Ward 7b stroke unit.

Local groups have also received funds and these are Norland School, St Luke's Church and The Luncheon Club.

The committee have reserved some funding over the last few years, to provide more equipment in the childrens park by the moor and are currently in talks with Calderdale Council.  We hope we can make this differenc this summer.  Also, you may have noticed our boundary stones; these will be painted very soon.

Whilst we are able to give funding to various groups, we are mindful to keep enough money in the bank to run the event the following year.  The 2012 fesitval is now in our thoughts and meetings are being held every month, the next one being 22 February 8pm at Ryburn Golf Club.  If you are able to offer assistance and bring something beneficial to the meeting, please email us to offer your services, you will be warmly welcomed.  Also help is always required during the festival weekend.  Remember the festival is for the children and adults to enjoy, to bring the community together, and to raise funds for our village and charities. "Many hands make scarecrow work"!!
Thank you
